We invite you to bring anything that is at least 60% metal to the school and leave it in our metal bin on the north side of the building. We cannot accept fridges or freezers. They cost us money when we take them to recycle.
A Note from Principal Hull:
The vibrant colors and crisp air of autumn have brought a wonderful energy to our school, and we're
thrilled to head into a busy and productive season of learning! We have some fun things planned this
month, starting with Parent-Teacher Conferences this Thursday and Friday. We look forward to
connecting with you and celebrating the wonderful things your child has accomplished thus far. A strong
partnership between home and school is extremely beneficial for your child’s overall success.
We are also excited about Hot Lunch Week from October 13–17 and the opportunity to thank our
incredible kitchen staff who work tirelessly to provide a hot meal every day. As a friendly reminder, the
purpose of this week is to highlight our school’s hot lunch options, so we kindly ask that you refrain from
bringing outside fast food during this specific week. If you can’t join us then, parents are always welcome
to come and eat with their child on any other school day as well.
Finally, the whole school is buzzing with anticipation for Halloween on October 31st! To ensure a fun
and smooth day for everyone, please note that costumes must be school-appropriate and may not
include masks or toy weapons. Please consider the comfort of your child and their ability to use the
restroom independently as they select their costume.
Thank you for your continued support as we make this a fantastic fall for our students! My door is always
open. Please feel free to email me at paula.hull@ccsdut.org or call me at 435-792-7673 if you ever
have any questions or concerns. I’m here to help.
Warmly,

A Note from Principal Hull
Dear Families and Community Members,
As the calendar turns to December and the holiday season approaches, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the tremendous support and enthusiasm shown by our community over the past month.
A Heartfelt Thank You for "One School, One Book"
I am thrilled to report that our One School, One Book program this year was a truly remarkable success! The level of engagement, both in our classrooms and at home, was inspiring, and it reinforced the joy of reading for our students.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of some key individuals:
- A huge, special thank you to Ms. Babbitt for her tireless efforts in coordinating this wonderful initiative. Her commitment to fostering a love of literacy through engaging activities made all the difference.
- We also extend our deepest appreciation to our amazing PTA for their organization, support, and enthusiasm throughout the entire program and planning of our Literacy Night.
The culmination of the activity at our Literacy Night was a powerful testament to the strength of our school community. The community support was truly overwhelming, and seeing so many families participate made for a truly magical evening celebrating reading. Thank you for making it such a memorable event!

If you are able and would like to help bring joy to a family in need, we are now accepting donations for our Angel Tree. If you would like to participate by either shopping for gifts or providing a donation, please notify the front office.
As always, my door is open. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or the school office if you have any questions, concerns, or kudos. We accept all of these things.

A Note from Principal Hull
Welcome Back Students,
Happy New Year! I hope your winter break was filled with rest, relaxation, and wonderful memories with your loved ones. We are energized and ready for a fantastic second half of the school year!
Kindness Week is Coming
One of the highlights of January is our upcoming Kindness Week. We believe that small acts of service and encouraging words create a culture where every student feels safe and valued. Keep an eye out for more details soon.
Acadience Testing: January 13th
To help us better support your child’s academic growth, we will be conducting our Acadience Reading and Math testing on Monday, January 13th. These assessments provide our teachers with valuable data to tailor instruction to each student's needs. You can help your student do their best by ensuring they:
--Get a good night’s sleep.
-- Eat a healthy breakfast.
-- Arrive at school on time.
New This Winter: Sledding at Recess!
We are thrilled to announce a new seasonal activity! On days when we have sufficient snow coverage, sledding will be available during lunch recess. We want to make the most of our beautiful Utah winters and keep our students active.
The Details:
Who: Any student who wishes to participate.
Requirement: Students must be wearing a coat to participate.
Equipment: Please do not send sleds from home. To ensure safety and fairness, we will
provide the sleds, and the activity will be fully supervised by our recess aides.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. Let’s make this January a month of hard work, kindness, and—hopefully—a little bit of snowy fun!
Warmly,
Paula Hull
COOL COUGAR SKILLS
In January we are reminding students about:
Resiliency- to make resilience easy for kids to understand, you can teach them the & "B.A.C.K." method.
The B.A.C.K. Method (How to Bounce Back)
B – Breathe First When you’re upset, your brain is like a shaken-up soda bottle. If you "open it
right away, it messes everything up!
A – Add "yet"
When something is hard, your brain might say, " I can't do this!" or "I'm not good at this!"
C – Choose a Tiny Step
Big problems look like giant mountains. You don't have to jump to the top; you just need to take one tiny step.
K – Know Your Team
Remember you have help.
---Please check the lost and found in the foyer at school to see if any items belong to your
student.
--We invite you to bring anything that is at least 60% metal to the school and leave it in our
metal bin on the North side of the building. We cannot accept fridges or freezers. They cost us
money when we take them to recycle.

Friday, February 27 th - NO SCHOOL, Teacher Prep Day
A Note from Principal Hull
Dear Families,
February is here, and our school is excited about all of the fun things we have planned! From classroom
celebrations to community service, we have a lot to look forward to this month.
Valentine Class Parties
Our Valentine’s Day celebrations will take place on Thursday, February 12th. Each class will provide the
opportunity for children to exchange valentines. Please use the following guidelines:
1. This is an optional activity,
2. If your child decides to participate, they must bring something for everyone in their class,
3. Each valentine treat should be small and the same or similar size for each child,
4. No big gifts for specific students are allowed. (i.e. balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, etc.)
Watch for more classroom specific details from your child’s teacher.
Attendance Matters: Every Hour Counts
We want to extend a sincere thank you to the many families who prioritize regular attendance and arriving
at school on time in all grades, preschool through sixth grade. We are thrilled to celebrate the 53% of our
students who achieved 95% attendance this trimester! They will receive a special incentive in March.
It is a common misconception that elementary attendance is less important since grades don't
count for college yet. In reality, this is the most critical period for your child’s educational career.
However, we’ve noticed a rise in early check-outs. That final hour of the day is vital; it’s when teachers
recap lessons, provide additional support for students, and provide the instructions that set
students up for success tomorrow.
Consistent attendance achieves three major goals:
--Academic Success: Students who stay for the full day are 4x more likely to read at grade level by 3rd grade.
Missing just two days a month significantly lowers testscores.
--Foundational Habits: Elementary school is the most critical time to build the habit of showing up and building social confidence.
--Instructional "Bridges" : Every hour missed is a missed building block for the next days learning.
A Fresh Start: While 25% of our students are currently in the "at-risk" category for absences, the third trimester is a fresh start! We will host another attendance incentive in May. Let’s work together to keep our students in class from bell to bell!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hull

Mission Accomplished: 639 Pounds of Kindness!
A massive thank you to everyone who contributed to the Kindness Crew's February food drive! We are proud to announce that our community rallied together to collect a staggering 639 pounds of food, soaring past our original 500-pound goal. These donations provide vital support to local families, proving that when we work together, our collective impact is truly unstoppable.
Strengthening Our Community: Upstander Skill Steps
We can keep this momentum going by practicing "Upstander" skills to ensure our school remains a safe, bullying-free zone for everyone. You can make a difference by speaking up when you see unfair treatment, using inclusive body language to welcome others into your group, and pausing before you post online to ensure your digital footprint is kind. Most importantly, always check in on the target of bullying to show them they aren’t alone—your support is the most powerful tool we have against unkindness.
All Visitors to the School MUST check in at the office
and wear a visitor sticker while in the School.

Dear Families,
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we have plenty of exciting activities
on the horizon! We are so thrilled to see your children’s smiling faces every day and
appreciate your continued partnership in making this a successful year. Below are a few
important updates and reminders to keep our school running smoothly and safely.
Testing Season: April 6 – May 20
Our state testing window is approaching. To ensure our students can perform their best
and show off everything they’ve learned, please help us with the following during this
window:
Attendance: Ensure your child is present and on time every day.
Rest: Help them get a great night's sleep with a consistent bedtime.
Fuel: Start the day with a healthy, nutritious breakfast to keep their energy up.
E-Bikes
We would like to share a reminder regarding the email sent out to all families regarding
the district and law enforcement directive for electric bikes. It stated that, “Riders
under 14 years of age may only operate an e-bike when supervised by a parent or
guardian.”
Smart Electronics & Cell Phones
We have noticed a significant increase in smartwatches and cell phones being used
during the day. To maintain a focused learning environment, please review these
expectations with your child:
Power Down: All smart electronics must be powered down during school hours.
Usage: Devices may only be used before or after school.
Policy: Students found not adhering to these rules will lose their privilege to have
these devices at school.
We are officially in the home stretch! While we are working hard, we also have many fun
activities planned to celebrate our students. We love seeing your children each and
every day and appreciate your support in keeping our community safe and focused.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warmly,
Paula Hull

Mindfulness Minute: The "High-Five" Breath
Helping kids manage big emotions can be as simple as a High-Five.
To practice, have your child trace their hand with a finger: breathe in as they slide up a finger and out as
they slide down. This simple, tactile tool helps ground their focus and slow their heart
rate during stressful moments. Whether it’s before a big test or right after a busy school
day, a few HIGH FIVE breaths can reset the day!
All Visitors to the School MUST check in at the office
